Our tile decoration class is all about expressing yourself and learning a few techniques to do that with clay. We will cover the basic decoration techniques including, dipping, brushing, trailing, sgrafitto and carving. Once you’ve got the basics down you can start to explore and combine these techniques to really show off your flare. We will be working with 4×4 earthenware tiles that once finish will be great coasters, decorations or could be included as a feature in an upcoming tiling project.
As part of the class you will be allowed to keep 4 decorated and glazed tiles. If you are feel productive or have a project in mind them you can decorate and keep an extra tiles at the extra cost of £8 per tile up to a total of 5 tiles.
We encourage you to come prepared, think about what you already like to draw; into simple patterns? animals or people? abstract mark or a combination of all these? It will really help you find your groove if you come with an idea to explore using the materials and language of clay. No worries if you don’t it will just kick start your clay based express.
This workshop is suitable for all ages, we ask that children under 12 book on with a parent or guardian.
